Bonnie Mae (Schultz) Matthias, 96, of Lowell, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 17.
Born and raised in Beecher, she was well known for being part of “Will County’s largest family” of 1937. She could share countless memories of growing up in a family of 20 children. That love of family continued when she married Wendell (Potsy) Matthias in September 1946. They grew their family to include five daughters. Her family continued to grow with the addition of 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great -grandchildren to-date.
She so loved playing Bingo, her church – St. Luke’s, and being an active member of the Deeke-Ohlendorf Ladies Auxiliary. Bonnie’s greatest love was her family.
Bonnie is survived by one sister, Honey (Carol) McConkey of Wisconsin; her daughters, Sharon Bigale, Dianna (Donald) Claussen, Mary Lou (Jack) Haymond, Peggy (Ken) Pienta, and Rosemarie (Tom) Nestlehut. There are also countless surviving nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Clara and Edward; husband, Potsy; son-in-law, Adam Bigale; and siblings, Sylvester, LaVerne, Lorraine, Garneta, Faith, Julia, Charles, Trenna, Glen, Edward, Clara, James, Genevieve, Robert, Betty, Jack, Jean, and Baby Girl Schultz. Also deceased are triplet great-grandchildren Zachary, Tyler, and Sharon.
Services were held on Saturday, August 23, at Hack-Jensen Funeral Home in Beecher, with burial in St. Luke Cemetery.
