Beecher 200-U School District opened its registration process on July 14 and, although the process has been simplified, there are some things parents and students should know.
Supt. Jack Gaham touched on it at the July 9 board meeting and got into the specifics in a July 10 video he created on the district website.
Residents were supposed to be sent a Snap code to enter the process via computer or phone. Those who did not receive their code should check the spam feature or call the office.
Gaham said if the students are cleared, parents should submit fee payments and wait for confirmation. Those who are cleared will be placed into a “hopper” for office personnel, a check, and approval, Gaham said.
For those who were in the district last year and moved to another residence within the district, residents will be required to upload a recent utility bill, and Gaham prefers that it’s a bill for July.
Those who are not cleared must stop by the district office.
“Patience is the big thing, whether you are waiting for that Snap code or whether you are in the hopper,” Gaham said. “Remember, we have 1,000 kids. That’s a lot of people. Be patient with us. Once you say your registration is submitted, give it a couple of days.
“You should get an email that says you are registered and, when you do, you are good to go.”
Goals
The board kicked around ideas for goals to update the district’s strategic plan, which is to cover 2023 through 2028.
The five main topics in the plan are: Academic Opportunities and Supports; Finance; Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment; Facilities and Community Engagement.
“Every year we like to review this and check mark things off through the years,” Board President Ashley Belt said. “We know we can’t do everything at once, but every year we look at what we can do.”
Resignations
The board acknowledged the resignations of Jillian Hauck as the physical education/health/driver’s education teacher at the high school, as well as Steve June as full time bus driver.
The district is looking for Hauck’s replacement. Application deadline is July 18 on the district website.
Gaham said the district is on the lookout for bus drivers and added it’s a position that is always in demand, whether it’s full time or part-time.
