Two new businesses sure to please hungry residents were discussed at the latest meeting of the Countryside City Council.
One is famous for burgers and tacos. The other specializes in wings.
A new Jack in the Box on La Grange Road is expected to be open by the end of July or early August, officials said. The sign was put into place July 7.
The site had been an Arby’s for decades, but the fast food restaurant closed July 7, 2024, clearing the way for Jack in the Box at 5656 S. La Grange Road.

Jack in the Box had been absent from the Chicago area for about 40 years and last year announced plans to return.
Ald. John Von Drasek, who chairs the council’s economic development committee, said “it looks like Jack in the Box is hoping to be open by month’s end.
“So, for all those people waiting for Jack in the Box tacos, get in line,” Von Drasek said.
The other new eatery is Wing Snob, which is going to be at 19 Plainfield Road. That’s the site of a closed vitamin store. It had been a White Hen Pantry long ago.
“The Wing Snob is planning to open by November,” Mayor Sean McDermott said. “I spoke to the owner of Wing Snob and he’s very excited to be coming into Countryside.”
The city council at its July 9 meeting unanimously approved creation of a new Class B liquor license for Wing Snob.
Wing Snob is a chain. Naperville, Oak Lawn, Oak Park, Matteson and West Chicago are among the many locations in the area.
The web site said traditional and boneless wings are available with orders ranging from six to 50 pieces. Eighteen sauces are available including Nashville Hot, Jamaican Jerk, and Honey BBQ.
In other business, the council approved a request for a block party from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Aug. 16 in the 5600 block of South Edgewood Avenue.
