Advocate Christ Medical Center has unveiled a new retail pharmacy at its Oak Lawn campus, bringing added convenience to patients, staff and local residents. Located on the first floor of the Outpatient Pavilion, the pharmacy opened in mid-May and is designed to enhance the hospital’s approach to integrated care.
The full-service pharmacy offers prescription fulfillment, over-the-counter medications, and routine immunizations, including flu shots. Open to the public, the facility also supports hospital staff and outpatients who may need immediate access to medications.
“The retail pharmacy is a convenient option for our patients, teammates and the broader community we serve,” said Mark Miller, president of Advocate Christ Medical Center and the South Chicagoland Area. “It offers prescription fulfillment, over-the-counter products, flu shots and other immunizations — all right here on campus.”
Hospital leaders say the new pharmacy plays a critical role in improving the patient discharge process by enabling patients to leave the hospital with medications in hand, eliminating the need for an additional stop on the way home.
“Having a retail pharmacy on our campus enhances the discharge process for patients,” Miller said. “It ensures they have what they need before they walk out our doors, which can lead to better adherence and better outcomes.”
The pharmacy is not only a new resource for patients, but also for physicians and clinical teams who can now offer a more seamless care experience. It’s also open to community members in need of prescription services, making it a valuable asset beyond the hospital walls.
Construction of the pharmacy was completed earlier this year, with the facility officially opening in mid-May.
While hospital officials did not disclose the total cost of the project, they emphasized the investment aligns with Advocate Health’s ongoing commitment to patient-centered care.
