Dr. Clifford and Ursula Randall first met at a piano recital when they were just six years old.

Nearly a century later, they’re preparing to celebrate something even more harmonious — their double 100th birthdays.

Dr. Randall turned 100 in May. Ursula reaches the milestone this month. Their family will gather at the end of June to celebrate what their daughter Leslie Alvino calls “an important milestone in my parents’ life.”

The couple, who married in 1948, built a life rooted in love, family and service to their community. After joining his father’s dental practice on Chicago’s East Side, Clifford later established his own offices in Worth and Palos Heights, where he practiced for more than 50 years.

They eventually moved to the Palos area, where they’ve lived for the past 70 years.

“My Dad started his dental practice in Worth and Palos Heights, building a relationship for over 50 years,” Alvino said.

The Randalls raised five children in Palos Heights and now have five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. All will be joining them for a celebration at home.

“My parents have said, ‘we never expected to live this long’ — very surprised! God’s plan has worked so far,” Alvino said.

When asked about the secret to reaching 100, the answer was simple.

“A good appetite.”
