Orland Park, Oak Lawn, Palos Heights, and Evergreen Park are all gearing up for Fourth of July celebrations next week.
Orland Park has a fun-filled two-day celebration planned in honor of America’s birthday.
On July 3 at 7 p.m., the village will kick things off with the annual Veterans Liberty Fun Run and Walk and will close things out with the best fireworks show around on July 4 at 9:30 p.m. at Centennial Park West.
On July 4, the village will continue the festivities at Centennial Park West with its annual Independence Day Celebration that includes a new free pet & kids bike parade, presentation of colors, fireworks display and a free concert presented by Comcast.
“I would like to extend a personal invitation to the residents of Orland Park and their families to join us for this special celebration in honor of the nation’s independence,” said Orland Park Mayor Jim Dodge, “his is a wonderful opportunity to connect with your community, enjoy fantastic entertainment, great food and a spectacular fireworks display.”
Palos Heights also has a two-day celebration planned.
On July 3, the city will offer inflatables and games from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Community Park. Wristbands are $20 per person (discount price of $15 until June 30). Food, music and beer will be available from 5-9 p.m. Fireworks will follow at 9:15 p.m.
On July 4, the annual Independence Day parade will kick off at noon on Harlem Avenue.
The Village of Oak Lawn will be holding its annual Fourth of July Parade and post-celebration on Saturday, June 28.
The parade will begin at 4 p.m. at 95th Street and 49th Avenue and then proceed west to 95th Street and 55th Court.
A variety of participants as well as contributions from local businesses, churches, and community groups will be included in the parade.
“The Fourth of July Parade is a cherished tradition that brings our community together in celebration of independence, unity, and pride,” said Mayor Terry Vorderer. “I invite all residents to join us in honoring this special day and making cherished memories with friends and family.”
Following the parade, festivities will be held beginning with a free concert at 6 p.m. on the Village Green. Charles and Company will perform.
Family activities offered at the Village Green following the parade will include bounce houses, face painting, and balloon artists. Paisans Pizza will provide food.
The annual fireworks show will be held at dusk Friday, July 4, at Richards High School, 10601 S. Central Ave.
Evergreen Park’s parade will kick off at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 27, from 95th Street and Springfield Avenue. The parade will march east to Richmond and the north to 91st Street.
Fireworks will follow at Duffy Park at dusk (about 9 p.m.)
