Thomas “Tommy” Patrick Furlong, retired Captain of the Chicago Fire Department, died at age 59. He was a proud public servant and a devoted family man.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Kenneth); his beloved soulmate, Karen, and her children, Karli and Conor; his sister, Erin; and his stepmother, Kathy. Tommy was preceded in death by his brothers, Matthew and Sean (Elaine), whom he now joins in heaven.
Tommy’s life was defined by service, love, and loyalty — to his city, his family, and the people he called his own.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 21, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Richard-Midway Funeral Home, 5749 Archer Ave. (corner of Lorel), Chicago. Funeral service will be held Thursday, May 22, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
