Maria D. Gonzalez (née Rodriguez), 94, died peacefully at home surrounded by family. She was the beloved wife of the late Juan Gonzalez.
A devoted mother, Maria raised eight children: Maria R. Gonzalez, Reynaldo Gonzalez, Roberto Gonzalez, Veronica (Saul) Banda, and the late Guadalupe Juan (Eileen) Gonzalez, the late Miguel Angel Gonzalez, and the late Martin Gonzalez.
She was the proud grandmother of 17, great-grandmother of 14, and great-great-grandmother of one. Maria was preceded in death by her three sisters and two brothers, and now joins them and her sons in heaven. She was a dear aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Maria was the heart of her family — a loving mother, a loyal friend, and a woman who personified kindness, strength, and grace. To know her was to love her.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave. (55th Street, just west of Harlem). Visitation continues Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. until prayers at 9:30 a.m. Procession will follow to St. Blase Church, Blessed Martyrs of Chimbote Parish, for a 10 a.m. Mass. Maria will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery.
