Two Chicago men face robbery charges after a woman was attacked and had her purse stolen May 7 in the parking lot of a Jewel-Osco in Countryside, police said.
Wilmen Jose Mata-Blanco, 25, was charged with robbery and battery. Police said he pulled a purse off a woman’s shoulder around 10:42 p.m. in the lot at 5545 Brainard Ave., knocking her to the ground and causing minor injuries.
A witness gave officers a description of the getaway vehicle. A Countryside officer spotted the car shortly after and, with help from other officers, boxed it in to prevent it from fleeing, police said.
Mata-Blanco was found in the passenger seat and identified as the attacker, police said.
The driver, Dixon Javier Perez-Rodriguez, 24, was also charged with robbery and cited for driving without a license.
