There are 453,563 registered voters but only 70,254 ballots cast. That’s only 15.49 percent of registered Will County voters who actually cast a ballot.

While some municipalities had a higher than  average turnout, the numbers still were dismal.

Albeit, there were plenty of contested races in Will County. Here’s some of the preliminary local race turnouts.

Incumbent Beecher Mayor Marcy Meyer sought another term and won beating candidate Ronald Mazurek, 410-196. With a total population just over 4,600, about 12 percent of the population voted.

The only candidate running for a two-year trustee term in Beecher was Brian Diachenko. Trustees Joe Tieri was elected with 319 votes, Todd Kraus with 317 votes, and Jessica Smith with 305 votes.

Crete’s mayoral position was uncontested, and candidate Mark Wiater was elected. New candidate Jamie Healy was elected with 500 votes, along with Stephen Johnson with 418, and Keith Miller with 414.

Frankfort Mayor Keith Ogle retained his mayoral seat in Frankfort with 2,240 votes of the 3,858 ballots cast. Mayoral candidate Justin Ozinga received 1,618 votes.

Trustees Michael Leddin with 2,366 votes, Eugene Samaria with 2,259 votes, and Daniel Rossi with 2,224 votes also were elected.

Will County will count the provisional mail in ballots on April 15. The election will be finalized no later than April 22. Votes that were close could change results.
