The results of Palos Heights’ municipal election are in, and the community has spoken. Incumbent Treasurer James Daemicke secured another term, and Alderman Jack Clifford was re-elected to serve another four years in the 2nd Ward.
Daemicke expressed his satisfaction with the results of his second straight victory over George Popelka.
“I’m very happy with the results,” Daemicke said, clearly proud of the continued trust placed in him by voters. “I’m honored to serve the city of Palos Heights, and I’m looking forward to continuing our work.”
Daemicke also highlighted the financial foundation the city has established under his stewardship. “We have a very strong financial base going into the future, and a lot of that is due to the leadership of Mayor Straz,” he said. “I’m excited to continue serving the residents and keeping Palos Heights financially secure.”
On the other side of the city, Clifford, who has represented the 2nd Ward for 24 years, is set to continue his tenure after securing another four years of service. Clifford, visibly pleased with the results, shared his gratitude for the support he received.
“I feel happy and glad to be able to help and serve the people of Palos Heights for the next four years,” Clifford said.
“I hope to move forward on some of the issues and improvements I’ve been working on, and I’llcontinue to be of service to everyone here.”
Reflecting on the race, Clifford thanked his opponent, Jennifer Case, for her efforts and congratulated her for stepping up to challenge him.
“I want to congratulate her on a well-run race, and I’m thankful to the voters who put their trust in me for another four years,” Clifford said.
Clifford, whose leadership style emphasizes responsiveness to his constituents, was quick to acknowledge the support from friends and fellow community members who helped throughout the campaign. “People showed up, and that means so much to me,” he said. “It’s incredible knowing that constituents have put their faith in me.”
Looking forward, Clifford spoke about his continued work alongside Mayor Straz to ensure the city keeps moving forward. “I look forward to continuing to work with Mayor Straz, who does a wonderful job of running this city and taking care of it,” Clifford said. “There are bigger and better things ahead for Palos Heights, and I’m excited to be part of that.”
Christine Jastczemska, a retired Master Sergeant and long-time Palos Heights resident, offered her full support for Clifford’s re-election, noting his exceptional commitment to the community.
“Alderman Clifford stands head and shoulders above the rest because he’s the best,” Jastczemska said. “He’s a definite hero to the community and a veteran who loves his country.”
Case and Popelka could not be reached for comment Tuesday night.
