Peotone’s Malya Sayre has been named to the All Liberty League First Team. Sayre, a junior at William Smith College, had a dominant season, which landed her on the All-Liberty League First Team for the second-straight year. She tallied 423 kills, 355 digs, 58 service aces, and 32 blocks through 28 matches and has recorded a team-leading 16 double-doubles.

Sayre reached the 20+ kill mark four times this season and was named the Liberty League Performer of the Week three times. She surpassed the 1,000 career kill mark against Rochester, marking the first player in program history to do so. Sayre’s season was highlighted by a career-high 25-kill (.250) and 16-dig performance against Clarkson in the Liberty League semifinal match. She added a season-high five service aces to lead the Herons to victory.

The six-rotation outside hitter led the Liberty League in several statistical categories. She ranks 29th in the nation and first in the conference in kills per set (4.03) and 20th in the nation and first in the league in points per set (4.76). Sayre also ranks eighth in the Liberty League in service aces per set (0.55) and digs per set (4.28). She leads a Heron squad that ranks second in the conference in points per set (16.72), hitting percentage (.206) and digs per set (15.90).
