November’s book choice was an instant New York Times bestseller and Reese’s Book Club selection. It tells the story of Hannah Hall as she tries to protect her stepdaughter after her new husband disappears under mysterious circumstances. Complete with family drama and plenty of twists and turns, it’s sure to be an interesting discussion. The program is free and open to the public. Hope you’ll join them!
Kankakee Kultivators at the Library: The Kankakee Kultivators Garden Club will host their monthly presentation at the library on Thursday, November 14, at 1 p.m., in the third-floor meeting room. The club will provide hands-on instruction to create tabletop arrangements to be donated to area nursing home facilities. The local garden club promotes the beautification of its community and organizes annual garden walks, gives gardening advice, hosts guest speakers, and more. Members hope you will join them! This is a free program and no registration is required.
Soul Collections Book Discussion: Attend the library’s monthly book group, Soul Collections, a program that highlights Black authors and themes. The next meeting is on Thursday, November 21, at 5:30 p.m. The book chosen for discussion is “The Other Black Girl,” by Zakiya Dalila Harris.
This New York Times bestselling novel follows Nella Rogers, the only Black employee at publishing house Wagner Books. When Harlem-born and bred Hazel joins the company, Nella is thrilled until a string of uncomfortable events elevates Hazel to Office Darling and leaves Nella in the dust. Join us to discuss your thoughts on how this story plays out. This event is free and open to the public.
