2024 OUTLOOK: The Meteors went from 1-8 in 2022 to just missing the playoffs with a 4-5 record in 2023. A 42-41 loss at St Patrick in the third week of the season ended up looming large.
New head coach Harold Blackmon, a former NFL defensive back who has been a head coach at St. Laurence and Oak Lawn, is eyeing a playoff berth. Blackmon led St. Laurence to the Class 5A semifinals in 2015 and the Class 6A semifinals in 2016.
“The team will be young, but we have some key players with the ability to make the season a success,” Blackmon said. “The players are looking forward to getting back on the field with a new coaching staff.”
Kaleb Navarro, a St. Xavier baseball recruit, is a dangerous two-way dangerous player at quarterback and linebacker.
The Meteors open the season Aug. 30 hosting Argo in a non-conference game.
