Police Commissioner Dan Polk says Palos Park is not content with a single National Night Out, so the village has planned a week’s worth of events to celebrate the annual get-together of first responders and residents.
Events will begin with Coffee with the Chief at 7 p.m. Friday, August 2, at police headquarters at 8999 W. 123rd St., which allows for an open discussion with community members about the operations of the police department.
On Saturday, August 3, at 10 a.m. at Trail Head Park, police will hold a community bike ride. Palos Park Police Department will have staff on duty and bike safety goodies for everyone.
On Tuesday, August 6, at 12:30 p.m. the village will host lunch with the police chief at Cog Hill Country Club, 12200 Archer. At 6:30 p.m. at police headquarters there will be a crime prevention and awareness seminar with Investigator Danielle Scaccia.
On Wednesday, August 7, there will be a Coffee with a Cop at 11 a.m. at the Plush Horse.
On Thursday, August 8, at 6:30 p.m. Officer Frank Flores will hold a Community Preparedness and Awareness seminar at police headquarters.
The national event, which has occurred every year on the first Tuesday of August for the past four decades, is held across the country to bring together first responders and the community.
