The Will County Board, after being on a recent tear to approve commercial solar energy facilities, did an about face at their Thursday, June 20 meeting.
The board voted to deny a special use permit for a project being proposed for vacant land in Channahon Township on South McKinley Woods Road.
The plan was brought to the board by three companies, Pentagon Properties, Pinnacle Properties, and BL Companies. Previously, the Will County Planning and Zoning Commission voted 4-1 to not issue a permit.
Additionally, the Land Use and Development Committee voted unanimously not to allow the requested permit for the project. The Village of Channahon is on record with a formal objection, stating in a letter to the Planning and Zoning Commission that no application for review was submitted, and the proposed use is not compatible with the village’s future land use plan.
