Worldwide Knit in Public Day, from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., adults/teens: All fiber artists are invited to work on their knitting, crocheting, embroidery, or needlepoint projects at the library as part of this annual event. We will have a prize drawing and light refreshments will be served. Please bring a lawn chair to this outdoor event. In case of rain, the event will be moved indoors. Register.

Our Flag Means Fun, from 1 – 2 p.m., ages six/12: Join us as we learn about the meaning behind pirate flag colors and symbols, discover some flags flown by famous pirates of the past, and create our very own flags. Register.

Monday, June 10

Twilight Tales, from 6 – 6:30 p.m., for families with children of all ages: Come curl up in your PJs and slippers at the library and listen to stories, songs, and rhymes before bedtime! Drop in.

CPLD Book Discussion Group, from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m., adults: Come discuss a new book each month at the library. This month’s book is “Horse,” by Geraldine Brooks, with copies available in advance at the library. New members are welcome. Drop in.

Babytime Cafe, from 10 – 11 a.m.: This program is a social hour for moms/caregivers and their babies from zero-to-two years of age. There will be coffee and snacks for the adults and toys for little ones to enjoy. Register.

Stories and Snacks in the Park, from 3 – 3:30 p.m., families: Join Ms. Kerry in the gazebo at Crete Park for this interactive storytime. A free snack will be available for child(ren) during the event. Drop in.

The History of Real Pirates, from 1 – 1:45 p.m., adults: The history of real pirates, such as Anne Bonny, Jack Warrender, and others, unveils a fascinating narrative. Delve into the adventures of these historical figures and explore the origins of their legendary exploits with storyteller Terry Lynch. Register.

Pirate Tales: The Adventure of a Lifetime, from 2 – 2:45 p.m., for families with children of all ages: Join the charismatic Captain Taffy on a swashbuckling journey as you listen to rollicking pirate stories from around the world! Register.

Art Adventures, from 11 – 11:45 a.m., ages four/five: Miss Bethann will teach step-by-step art/craft lessons for little ones to enjoy. Register.

Anime Club, from 3 – 4:30 p.m., grades sixth/12th: Join us for anime screenings, with snacks and refreshments provided. Showing “Toilet-bound Hanako-kun,” season 1, episodes 1–3. Register.

Tommy Tew’s Theatre Crew, from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m., ages seven/12: Have you ever wanted to be the star of your own show? Do you wish you could be a pirate, sailing the seas and seeking adventure? At this theater program, you can do both! Join us as we create our crew, write our very own pirate stories, make costumes and sets, and perform plays for friends and family! Summer Stars: Going on a Lion Hunt, from 10 – 10:45 a.m., ages five/12: Join us for an inclusive, sensory-friendly experience and make new friends! Make crafts with different materials. Each meeting will include speech, tactile, and social time. This month, participants are invited to join the group for a lion hunt!
