The 28-year-old son of Bradley Police Chief Don Barber has joined the village’s force as an officer. Austin Barber, a lifelong resident of Bradley, had been employed as a deputy with the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Department for the past several years. He was sworn in at the Monday, May 13, Bradley Village Board meeting. Also sworn in was 25-year-old Megan Lane of Momence. She also was previously a deputy with the County Sheriff’s Department, a position she has held for the past three years.
In other business, Bradley trustees awarded several contracts in connection with work to be done at the new sports complex being built behind the Bradley Commons Shopping Center. Musco Sports Lighting of Oskaloosa, Iowa, was awarded a lighting contract at a cost of $3,214,795. Paving work was awarded to Abbey Paving of Aurora, at a cost of $1,620,000, and the contract for site utility work was awarded to Tenco Excavating of Bourbonnais. All of the monies spent are in the overall budget allocation for the sports complex.
