The Tinley Park Community Concert Band, directed by Barbara Abarro, and the Tinley Park Jazz Band, directed by Bob Good, will present their annual free Spring Concert on Sunday, May 5, at 3 p.m., in the Art Beckmann Performing Arts Center (enter door #3), at Central Middle School, 18146 S. Oak Park Avenue, Tinley Park.

In honor of Cinco de Mayo, we have a little Spanish flare in store for your enjoyment, along with some old European classics from Bach, Vaughn Williams, and Rimsky-Korsakov. The Jazz Band will perform “In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning,” “Blues in Hoss Flat,” and “Feels So Good.”

The Concert Band was established in 1987. Members come from all over Chicagoland, with musicians ages 14 and older invited to join. There are no auditions or residency requirements. Rehearsals are on Mondays from 7 – 9 p.m., at Tinley Park Community Church, 7939 167th Street, Tinley Park. Although concerts are free, donations always are appreciated.
