Chicago Red Stars forward Ally Schlegel loves Wrigley Field.

“I adored Wrigley the second I went to my first Cubs game,” Schlegel said. “I fell in love with it thinking it was the perfect sporting experience with how they built it up down there.”

She will go from a fan in the stands to a player on the field when the Red Stars host Bay FC at Wrigley Field at 6:30 p.m. June 8 in what will be the venue’s first NWSL match.

The game was originally slated for June 9 at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview.

“Playing at Wrigley Field will be the event that fans of the Red Stars, Cubs and Chicago sports won’t want to miss,” Chicago Red Stars President Karen Leetzow stated in a press release.

“Wrigley Field is one of the most iconic sports venues in the country,” said Red Stars goalie and team captain Alyssa Naeher. “This is a unique opportunity for us to bring further visibility to our team and women’s soccer.

“Chicago has always been an incredible sports town with such a rich history. I can’t wait to compete on the field, under the lights, in front of our dedicated Chicago fans from every part of the city.”
