Countryside’s McDermott channels his inner Eagles

Countryside Mayor Sean McDermott thanked those who participated and attended the city’s eighth annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade that was held March 2, and had a nod to a classic rock band, too.
“We had a great turnout, a beautiful day,” McDermott said at the March 13 city council meeting.
The parade raised money for Pillars Community Health.
“We raised a lot of money for a good charity and we brought a lot of revenue into the town,” the mayor said.
A free trolley took those celebrating to taverns around the city after the parade.
Ald. John Finn (1st), who chaired the parade committee, gave “many thanks, especially to Mother Nature.”
“It was an absolutely gorgeous day,” Finn said.
McDermott thanked Finn for all his hard work, adding that the alderman can plan on chairing the parade again next year.
“It’s like the Hotel California. Once you’re in, you’re in for good,” McDermott said referring to the popular Eagles song as council members roared with laughter.
For those unfamiliar with the song, a lyric says, “You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.”
