March 5, at approximately 5:55 p.m., officers were dispatched to a business in the 5900 block of W. Monee-Manhattan Road for a disturbance/battery complaint. Upon officers’ arrival, they learned a male customer wanted to purchase a six pack of beer and placed in on the counter. When the clerk asked for the subject’s driver’s license to scan, he refused. The clerk explained it is store policy to scan the driver’s license for all alcoholic beverage purchases, and the subject still refused. The clerk attempted to remove the case of beer from the counter when the subject struck her hand and knocked the beer to the floor. Once the case of beer struck the floor, the beer burst all over the floor and onto a cash register. The subject then fled the scene. This case has been turned over to Investigations.
