The Chicago Catholic League made headlines when Blue powers Mount Carmel and DePaul met in the boys basketball IHSA Class 3A state championship game.

But the first-year Chicagoland Christian Conference also had a banner season.

The league, which features local program Chicago Christian, had two teams in the Class 1A final four. Hope Academy and Aurora Christian both lost in the semifinals, with the former topping the latter, 44-43, in the third-place game on March 7.

Bad news for league opponents: Both teams are scheduled to return plenty of talent that helped them bring hardware home from Normal.

Hope and Aurora Christian finished behind conference champion Christ the King in the league’s inaugural season.
