Call the library at 708-946-9090 for programs that require registration. The library’s Penfield Street parking lot entrance is closed until spring, but the Maxwell Street entrance is still open. Turn north on Maxwell from Indiana Avenue to get to the library.

Drop-in Book Marks: Make a book mark to keep or share with another library patron!

Drop-in Snowflake Fun: Learn about snowflakes and help decorate a bulletin board with snowflake poems, drawings, and pictures!

January 11, 12, 18, and 19, at 10 a.m., Beecher Bookworm Buddies: Enjoy stories, games, music, and a craft for small children in the meeting room! Call to register.

January 17, at 4 p.m., STEAM TEAM: Try to make a “blubber glove” to keep your hands warm in ice water and enjoy other cold weather fun. Call to register.

Adult Services

The library is beginning a new knitting and crocheting group for all skill levels. Learn to knit or crochet, ask questions about current projects, or just come to enjoy the camaraderie of other yarn enthusiasts. The group will meet on Tuesdays, from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m., from January 16 – March 19, and there is no charge. Call to register.

January 11, 16, and 18, from 2-5 p.m., One-on-One Technology Help: Sit down for a half hour and receive technology help with any of your devices, including phones, tablets, and laptops. Receive help with apps, email, Facebook and social media, computer basics, or get any other technology questions answered. Call to register.

The evening book discussion selection is available for pick up. The group will be reading “The Children’s Blizzard,” by Melanie Benjamin, on Monday, January 22, at 7 p.m.

The afternoon book club selection also will be available for pick up. The group is reading “Calling Me Home,” by Julie Kibler, on Friday, February 9, at 1 p.m.
