The Military Warriors Run Squad ran to each of the Manteno schools and through downtown Manteno in a pre-Veterans day celebration and awareness event. Now in its eighth year, runners consisted of approximately 25 members of the Olivet ROTC, Sergeant Lebrun and approximately 10 Marine recruits, veterans, and military. They were led by event organizer, Dan Gerber running with the American flag at a 11-minute mile pace for four miles. Six military vehicles participated driven by the Manteno Veterans home engineering/maintenance and motor pool department and ridden by veterans.
Manteno American Legion Commander Sean McNamara rode his motorcycle, which was adorned with flags, and Jojo Sayson, and Jason Lingo drove their battle cruisers. Project Headspace and Timing and Veterans Assistance Commission had their vehicle there, as well. Manteno Police Department did an outstanding job escorting the procession and monitoring traffic. The support from the Village of Manteno and Manteno schools was tremendous. The veterans want to thank everyone for their support!
