Helping Hands Food Pantry, the local pantry that currently serves 650 people per month in need of assistance in the Peotone School District area, is seeking the community’s help in providing approximately 180 holiday meals during Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The organization, composed of volunteers from various churches and the community, provides basic essentials twice each month to approximately 80-90 households. For every $1 the organization receives, they are able to purchase $8 of food, while distributing more than seven tons of food each month.
This holiday season, a donation of $20 will provide a holiday meal for a family of four. The Thanksgiving meal consists of turkey and all the trimmings, while the Christmas meal will feature a ham with all the trimmings.
