The Riverside Township Lions Club will join Lions Clubs around the state for Candy Days, which will be held Thursday and Friday, October 12 and 13. Candy Days, held each year in October, annually raise more than $1 million to help the blind, visually impaired, deaf and hearing impaired.

On Candy Days, Riverside Township Lions and volunteers give away candy and accept donations on street corners and in shopping areas and other public areas in Riverside and North Riverside.  Lions throughout the state join forces to raise funds, which are used either locally or statewide.

The statewide projects are administered through the charitable arm of the state’s more than 700 Lions Clubs. These programs include hearing screenings for children and adults; used eyeglasses collections; vision screenings; and Camp Lions for visually and/or hearing-impaired children and adults.

“Any donation made, whether big or small, is appreciated, said Jon Jansky, Riverside Township Lions Club Candy Days chair. “All donations are used to help the visually and hearing impaired. We look forward to seeing you on October 12 and 13.”

Those interested in joining the club are invited to a Meet the Lions social from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, October 12, at the Sandtrap Grill and Tap, 31 Forest Ave., Riverside. Soft drinks and finger food will be provided.

The Riverside Township Lions Club was founded in 1948 and meets monthly.
