Nadine Collins, 88, of Peotone, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Clarendale of Mokena. Born January 16, 1935, in Mammoth Springs, Arkansas, she was the daughter of James and Lena (Kester) Groves. She married Lloyd D. Collins on November 9, 1955, in Monee. He passed away on June 12, 2013.
Nadine was an avid reader and loved her novels, easily reading three-to-four a week. For many decades, she enjoyed bowling on the Ladies Tuesday Night League at the Peotone Bowling Center. Nadine was also a sun worshiper. During their empty nest years, Nadine and Lloyd spent winters in Florida, where they enjoyed the sun, sand, and visits from family.
Nadine and Lloyd also loved socializing and often enjoyed fine food and cocktails at Mr. Benny’s restaurant, with the best of friends. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Nadine had a special knack with the young grandkids. Lots of snuggles, playing games, and enjoying movies together were favorite pastimes. She took her grandchildren to nice restaurants and introduced them to live theatre and concerts. These times were a special treat for Nadine and Lloyd, as well as their grandkids. She often traveled to Atlanta to spend time with her out-of-state grandkids and to make special memories with them. All her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Nadine is survived by her children, Lloyd (Jeri) Collins Jr., Linda Barten, Linnea (Roger) Ashley, Leslie Voges, and Pam McTernan; grandchildren, Tucker (Jenny) Collins, Rachel Barten, Stacey (Tom) Kosloskus, Blake (Ariel) Ashley, Lena Ashley, Clayton Ashley, and Charlie McTernan; great-grandchildren, Deacon, Gage, Abbey, Reagan, and Aurora; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd D. Collins Sr., sister, Patricia Fly; granddaughter, Abigail Barten; and son-in-law, Richard L. “Dick” Barten.
Private family services will be held, with interment at Peotone Cemetery. Share a memory at www.feddehelfrichcrossfh.com.
