At the September 5 Manteno Village Board meeting, it was announced all remodeling and renovation of the new building that will be police headquarters has been completed, and the department will be operating at the facility, 110 Marquette Place South, beginning September 12. The village held an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony so residents could take a tour of it on September 9.
In other business, the Manteno Village Board approved an amendment to a residential parking ordinance. The old version of that ordinance stated residents could not park a vehicle on the grass in front of their home. The amended version extends that prohibition to side yards and even back yards. The amended ordinance specifically states a vehicle must be parked outside a residence only on a paved surface or driveway.
