June 12, at approximately 8:20 a.m., a traffic stop for disobeying a stop sign ended with a Florida man being charged with driving while suspended and several registration violations. Daniel Stef, 59, was processed and bonded.
June 12, at approximately 6:30 p.m., a Monee-Manhattan Road business contacted MPD to report more than $20,000 missing from a business transaction. According to the owners, an employee sold three vehicles and then left the business with all his belongings. It appears he also took the checks used to pay for the cars. Investigations is following up.
June 13, at approximately 9:20 a.m., officers investigated a traffic crash in the 25600 block of Governors Highway. A local business suffered extensive damage after a University Park man lost control of his vehicle and struck the front of the building. Debris from the impact also caused damage to other vehicles parked nearby. Steven Blackmon, 43, was taken to St. Francis Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The investigation continues.
June 13, at approximately 5:55 p.m., a Monee-Manhattan Road traffic crash resulted in both drivers being cited. Ryan Truss, 27, of Joliet, was cited for disobeying a traffic control signal. Dominick Trotter, 44, of Chicago, was cited for driving while suspended. Both drivers refused medical treatment.
June 14, at approximately 2 a.m., an Egyptian Trail resident reported his 2018 Dodge Charger was stolen from his driveway sometime after midnight. The victim also reported a handgun was in the console of the vehicle when it went missing. MPD searched the area and entered the car and gun into the system. Investigation continues.
June 14, at approximately 3:30 p.m., an expired license plate got Joseph Scott, 37, of Chicago, a ride to MPD. He was driving while suspended, then was processed and bonded.
June 14, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a speeding violation got Joe Johnson, 31, of Kankakee, also a ride to MPD. He was driving while suspended, then processed and bonded.
June 14, at approximately 7 p.m., a verbal disagreement at the 7 Eleven on Governors Highway turned physical. Cherez Smith, 23, of Monee, was charged with battery after punching a 58-year-old man in the face. Smith was secured and transported.
June 15, at approximately 6:45 p.m., a Kankakee man was stopped for speeding and found also to be driving with suspended plates and no insurance. Nicholas Lopez, 57, was processed and bonded.
June 15, at approximately 9 p.m., a Dolton man was stopped for failure to signal and found also to be driving while suspended, plus no insurance. Rico Byas, 26, was secured and transported.
June 16, at approximately 12:25 p.m., Conor Anderson, 36, of Evergreen Park, was stopped for speeding and found also to be driving while suspended and no insurance. He was secured and transported.
June 16, at approximately 5:30 p.m., an improper left turn on Monee-Manhattan Road put a Hammond, Indiana, man behind bars after it was discovered he had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in Harvey. Kendricks Johnson, 22, was secured and transported.
June 16, at approximately 10 p.m., a traffic stop for expired plates led to the arrest of Joseph York, 27, of Gary. York was driving while suspended and did not have Insurance. He was processed and bonded.
June 16, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Leo Coleman, 20, of Park Forest, was stopped for a muffler violation and found to be suspended. Coleman was processed and bonded.
June 18, at approximately 7:15 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance in the 25700 block of S. McKinley. It was determined Samuel Castilleja, 20, of Monee, had initiated a physical altercation with his brother. He was charged with domestic battery and transported.
