The driver of a car that crashed into the front of Monee business on June 13 walked away without serious injuries. Monee Police Detective Evie Lazzaroni said the accident occurred around 9:20 a.m. at Monee Liquor Store, 25655 S. Governors Highway. No one inside the store was injured, and the driver of the car was transported to an area hospital “with minor injuries.”
According to the police report, the vehicle “was traveling southbound on Governors Highway, when it suddenly veered eastbound, leaving the roadway and striking the building.”
In addition to the building, two parked vehicles were also were damaged.
Lori Willis Frey and her husband, Carl, arrived at the scene shortly after the accident occurred, and Lois said, “The bricks were thrown so far from the liquor store they were on the front deck at Brian’s Place (a block away). It really was scary, but we’re so glad no one in the store or the driver were hurt badly. My husband is the police chief in Grant Park so we stopped to see if they needed any help.”
Monee Police said the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
