Two men were wounded May 21 after two groups started arguing in the parking lot at Menards in Bridgeview.

Police said the incident started at 8:05 p.m. with an argument between two groups in the parking lot at 9140 S. Harlem Ave.

Police Chief Ricardo Mancha said police are trying to figure out what happened.

“We’re interviewing 30 people to determine exactly what happened,” he said.

He said it appears as if one of the groups fired shots from two different weapons at the other group in the parking lot and then the dispute moved east toward the nearby Patio restaurant.

“Bullets struck a window at Menards and the Patio,” Mancha said. “And some parked cars were hit.”

Mancha said police recovered two different caliber shell casings indicating two guns were fired. “We counted 24 to 26 shell casings,” he said.

One man was shot in the calf. The other man was hit in the finger.

The man shot in the calf was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn while the other victim  took himself to Palos Hospital. Both men were in good condition, Mancha said.

Mancha said it was not clear whether the two men were involved in the dispute or were bystanders.

He said no charges had been filed as investigators sort through the interviews.

Mancha said the shooting appeared to be an isolated incident and there was no threat to the community.

The Patio was open for business as usual on Monday.
