May 1, at approximately 10:20 p.m., officers handled a disturbance call at the Quality Inn for a female who refused to leave the pool area and was verbally abusive. Once officers arrived on scene, the subject increased her level of abuse and directed it at the police. She was joined by her seven-year-old son, who matched his mother’s irate intensity and added a punch to one of the officers in a show of support for his mother. The father/grandfather then showed up on the scene and took his grandson aside to rectify his anger issues. He couldn’t do the same for his daughter, as she had a Cook County Warrant for Trespassing. Keshonda Gill, 27, of Harvey, was transported and processed.
May 3, at approximately 6:20 p.m., a 17-year-old University Park man lost control of his vehicle and took out a mailbox on Azalea Avenue. Apparently, he and his friend accidentally ignited a smoke bomb in the vehicle. The ensuing panic resulted in the downed box. He earned a lane use citation for his lack of control.

May 4, at approximately 3:50 p.m., Jerry Lewis, 62, of Monee, was issued an ordinance citation for uninvited solicitation. Lewis often rides his bike, stopping traffic and asking for money. He often becomes belligerent and abusive toward drivers when they don’t donate. He previously has been removed from various intersections in the area for similar harassment complaints. At 5 p.m., officers received another complaint of Jerry obstructing traffic and being abusive toward drivers. This time, one of the victims wanted to sign a complaint for disorderly conduct. Lewis was cuffed and placed under arrest. During the arrest, he became extremely agitated and threatened the officers and complainant. Once placed in the car, he continued his tirade and tried kicking his way out of the squad car’s caged area. At one point, the arresting officer had to pull over as Lewis was attempting to break into the driver’s area. He was re-secured and transported. He continued resisting, refused to be printed, and tried to break through his cell door. He was turned over to Will County to complete processing, with the additional charges of resisting arrest and aggravated assault. His parole officer was notified of his current location.

May 5-6, in the late morning hours, officers responded to two separate disturbance calls that involved subjects fighting in the roadway on Monee-Manhattan Road. Both instances were the results of road rage incidents and in both cases none of the involved people wished to file a complaint against the aggressor. They refused any medical attention and were sent back on their way, hopefully, with a better attitude…

May 6, at approximately 4:20 p.m., a routine traffic stop turned into a slew of charges for a Downers Grove man. After being stopped for a registration violation and speaking with the officer, he decided he didn’t want to wait around for a license check, jumped into his car, and sped off. As the officer watched him speed away, he managed to cut off traffic and blow a couple of stop lights. The officer, who was left holding the driver’s ID card, is processing an arrest warrant for aggravated fleeing and eluding, with multiple traffic charges. To be continued…
