Harlem Avenue resurfacing begins May 9

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that a resurfacing of Harlem Avenue, from the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal, in Forest View, to Hanover Street, in Summit and Chicago, will require intermittent overnight lane closures beginning, weather permitting, Tuesday, May 9.
The $1.3 million project, which also consists of constructing new ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps and replacing deteriorated curbs, is expected to be completed in late July.
Access to residences and businesses within the work zone will be maintained throughout construction.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
