Maureen Ellen Kambic, 69, of Kankakee, passed away Friday, April 14, 2023, at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital, Kankakee. Born on December 9, 1953, in Evergreen Park, she was the daughter of Robert and Mary (O’Sullivan) Buss. Maureen married James Kambic on June 5, 1999, at Kelley Prayer Chapel.
Maureen was the Assistant Comptroller for the City of Kankakee, retiring on October 27, 2022. A parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Kankakee, she enjoyed camping and boating.
Surviving are her husband, James of Kankakee; daughters, Sandra (Kelly) Campbell and Wendy Lippelt, all of Bourbonnais, and Traci Rock of Manteno; son, Michael (Tonya) Rock Jr., of Athens, Georgia; grandchildren, Nick, Joe, Ashley, Brandon, Auston, Ashton, Kaden, Olivia, Cadence, and Izabella; a great-grandchild, Damen; brother, Robert Buss of Bourbonnais; brothers-in-law, Phil (Linda) Kambic of Bourbonnais, Mark (Lynette) Kambic of Billings, Montana, and John Kambic of Manteno; and sisters-in-law, Laurie Suwal of Virginia and Marie (Jim) Jarvis of Bourbonnais. Maureen was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers-in-law, Kenny, Walter, and Don Kambic.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated on April 21, at St. Rose Chapel, Kankakee, with Rev. Matthew Pratscher as officiant. Interment followed at All Saints Cemetery, Bourbonnais.
