On Thursday, April 6, in an away conference game, the Bobcats faced Clifton Central, losing 12-15. The teams were evenly matched with 10 hits each. Aiding the Bobcats, Quinton Allen and Zak Gorcowski each recorded multiple hits. Unfortunately, Beecher committed three errors to Clifton Central’s two. In the outing, AJ Snell earned the loss.
The next day, Friday, April 7, the Bobcats again were on the road in a non-conference game against Seneca. In four innings, the Bobcats could only manage two hits to Seneca’s 13, resulting in a 15-0 loss for the Bobcats. The losing pitcher for the Bobcats was Quinton Allen.
The first full week of April ended on a positive note, with an 11-10 home victory against Lisle on Saturday, April 8. The Bobcats’ bats found some life, with 10 team hits, including four for Zak Gorcowski. One of the highlights of the game came as Nathan Diachenko blasted a three-run homer in the sixth to tie the game. He also was credited for his work on the mound and took the win.
To begin the new week, on Tuesday, April 11, the Bobcats faced Kankakee High School on their home field and won, 14-8. Falling behind 3-0 after the top of the first, the Bobcat offense exploded for 12 runs in the bottom of the inning, then added one more in each of the fourth and fifth frames. On the day, Beecher had 14 runs, on 14 hits, along with 4 errors. For Kankakee, the team scored 8 runs, on 11 hits, along with 3 errors. Trevor Stout went 6 innings and struck out 7 to earn the win.
Then on Thursday, April 12, the Bobcats faced Reed-Custer at home in another non-conference contest, which resulted in a 5-9 loss for the Bobcats. Beecher scored 5 runs, on 8 hits, but committed 3 errors. For Reed-Custer, the team had 9 runs, on 9 hits, along with 2 errors. Quinton Allen, who went 5 strong innings on the mound and only allowed 1 earned run, unfortunately took the loss. Zak Gorcowski had a three-hit game, while AJ Snell hit his first home run of the year.
On Friday, April 13, in a home non-conference contest against Wilmington, Beecher only was able to get one Bobcat across the plate in the 1-11 loss to the Wildcats. Beecher scored 1 run, on 3 hits, and committed 2 errors. For the Wildcats, they scored 11 runs, on 7 hits, along with 1 error. Zak Gorcowski recorded the loss for the Bobcats.
The Bobcats, again, ended their week of play on a positive note, beating Milford 9-6, in front of the hometown fans on Saturday, April 15. Beecher’s bats were alive, scoring 9 runs, on 10 hits, with Quinton Allen slamming two doubles and adding three RBIs for the day. Milford had 6 runs, on 7 hits, and 2 errors. AJ Snell earned the victory, striking out six in 4 innings, while Nolen Lane, in relief, had three scoreless innings on the mound.
The Bobcats are 5-8 overall and 2-2 in the RVC.
