Janet L. Matthews, 60, of Elwood, formerly of Peotone, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2023, at her home. Born in Harvey on December 12, 1962, she was the daughter of Othiel C. and Madge Marie (Clark) Matthews.
Janet, who was raised in Harvey, was employed by Peotone Community 207-U School District as a secretary at Wilton Center Elementary School. She then worked as a personal banker for several different banks.
Janet is survived by her sons, Nicholas J. Francis of Elwood and Daniel (Michelle) Francis of Peotone; grandchildren, Kylie M., Skylar L., and Lila I. Francis; sisters, Sandra (Darrell) Webb, Joyce Matthews, Donna Matthews, and Pamela Summers; brother, Gerald Matthews; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Richard T. Francis; her parents; and sisters, Carol Matthews Ipock and Debbie Matthews Gillispie.
