Thomas Edward Benoit, 91, of Bradley, passed away Monday, April 3, 2023, at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee. Born February 28, 1932, in Kankakee, he was the son of Arthur and Maude (McGowan) Benoit. Tom married Patricia A. Martin on June 9, 1956, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley.

Tom, a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His passions included golf, bowling, and weekly poker games. He was a member of the Ironworkers Local 444 for 50 years, a veteran of the U.S. Army and the Aroma Park Legion, and was the #1 handyman for his family.

Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Patricia Benoit of Bradley; daughters, Beth (Dennis) Bailey of Bonfield, Laurie (John) Whittemore of Kankakee, JoEllen Benoit of St. Anne, and Aimee (Jeff) Grubbs of Gainsville, Virginia; grandchildren, Kate (Scott) Miller, Amanda (Scott) Smith, Paul (Ryan) Bailey, Anna (Tim) Hamann, Jacob (Kierstin) Bailey, Andrew (Nina) Grubbs, and Adam Grubbs; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Burns, who is 103 years old, of Oak Lawn. Tom was preceded in death by granddaughter, Carly Whittemore Medina, who welcomes him to Heaven, along with six brothers, Vincent, Raymond, Dwyer, Francis, James, and Gerald, and three sisters, Anita Worby, Helen Hansen, and Theresa Benoit.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service was held on April 7, at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais, with Deacon Patrick Skelly officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
