At the Monday, March 6, Bourbonnais Village Board meeting, an official proclamation honored the Bourbonnais Upper Grade School Cheerleaders for their second place finish in the state at the cheer competition held in February in Peoria.
The proclamation reads: WHEREAS, the Corporate Authorities of the Village of Bourbonnais are pleased to recognize and congratulate the Bourbonnais Upper Grade Center Cheerleaders, who earned second place in the Small Routine Division, out of 31 teams at the Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) State Cheer Competition. The competition took place on Wednesday, February 15, at the Peoria Civic Center in Peoria. WHEREAS, the Bourbonnais Upper Grade Center Cheerleaders exhibited great determination and a commitment to teamwork to achieve excellence. The Village Authority wishes to recognize the following cheerleaders: Amiyah Anderson, Kelsi Bade, Carly Banaszak, Evelyn Benoit, Keira Goberville, Fiona Hiser, Mia McAdams, Riley McNeal, Claire Morrall, Alyssa Pfeiffer, Abigail Shelton, Madison Sinclair, Lia Slager, Kamryn Stanek, Kylie Stanek, and Mackenzie April. WHEREAS, the 2023 cheerleaders’ lives have been positively impacted by their experience in learning that hard work, dedication, and teamwork results in great success. The girls put in months of hard work and dedication this season. They went into the state competition with a goal and came back with a trophy. WHEREAS, the Village recognizes that strong, passionate, and committed leadership is essential for a successful program and improving the lives of students. The Village hereby congratulates Coaches Courtney Bernicky and Lexi Thorgersen for their leadership and inspiration. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that, We, the Corporate Authorities of the Village of Bourbonnais, and on behalf of the citizens of the Village, hereby recognize and congratulate the 2023 Bourbonnais Upper Grade Center Cheerleaders for their achievement on this 6th day of March 2023.
On another topic, Mayor Paul Schore announced a recent open house held to educate voters about a referendum on the April 4 ballot that, if passed, would raise Bourbonnais’ sales tax by one percent got a good response with about 50 people in attendance. Another open house session on the same subject will take place at the Bourbonnais Municipal Center on March 29, from 5 to 7 p.m.
