Gerald “Papa” Koldash, 87, of Manteno, passed away Monday, February 13, 2023, peacefully surrounded by his family. Born December 24, 1935, at home in Chicago, he was the son of Anton and Verna Pajc Koldash. Gerald married Marie Przybysz on April 22, 1961. She preceded him in death in 1998.
Gerald, a U.S. Army veteran, had been a warehouse supervisor at Ball Glass for several decades until his retirement. He loved to travel all over the world and had a passion for world cuisine. Gerald enjoyed shopping and spending time with friends and family. He also had been a parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mokena for a number of years.
Surviving are two daughters, Lorianne Mihelic of Manteno and Kimberly Parmer of Manteno; grandchildren, Anthony Koldash of Manteno, Laurin (Justin) Stauffenberg of Bourbonnais, and Kyle Parmer of Manteno; great-grandchildren, Jace and Bryce Stauffenberg; sister, MerciAnne Renner of Palos Heights; and sister-in-law, Stevie Koldash of Manteno. In addition to his wife, Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, James Koldash; sons-in-law, Donald Mihelic Jr. and Keith Parmer; and brother-in-law, John Renner.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Private family services and family inurnment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery will be held.
