Gerald M. “Jerry” Bernicky, 83, of Limestone, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023, at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee. Born July 4, 1939, in Joliet, he was raised at Guardian Angel Home in Joliet. Jerry married Donna Fritz on May 1, 1965, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Kankakee.
Jerry was a retired employee of Crown Cork and Seal in Bradley. He also had worked at Texize (Dow Chemical). Jerry enjoyed fishing. He was a parishioner of St. James Catholic Church in Irwin.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Donna Bernicky of Limestone; sons, Scott (Terri) Bernicky of Limestone, Marc (Dana) Bernicky of Plainfield, and Todd Bernicky (fiancée, Kacey Schultz) of Kankakee; grandchildren, Ashley, Autumn, Courtney, Tyler M., Bailey, Corvin, and Tyler S.; one great-grandson, Grayson; sister, Ann Frederickson of Missouri; and sisters-in-law, Joan Bernicky of Frankfort and Pat Bernicky of Joliet. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Louis, Robert, and Joseph; and sisters, Nancy and Cleo.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated on February 24, at St. James Catholic Church in Irwin, with interment following at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Herscher.
