Raleigh E. McHugh, 76, of Martinton, passed away Monday, February 13, 2023, at Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital in Proviso Township. Born January 11, 1947, in Belknap, he was the son of James and Iva (Canada) McHugh. Raleigh married Rosetta Hanners on February 12, 1971, in Bradley.
Raleigh, a veteran of the U.S. Army and serving during the Vietnam Conflict, worked in Maintenance at Armstrong World Industries in Kankakee. He enjoyed being put in Facebook “Jail,” watching NASCAR, and going to Disney World. Most of all, Raleigh loved spending time with his grandchildren. Raleigh also enjoyed going to church and was a member of Church of God in Manteno and Church of God Worship Center in Bradley.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Rosetta McHugh of Martinton; daughters, Leslie McHugh of Martinton and Stacy (Paul Jr.) Lundmark of Canton, Georgia; daughter-in-law, Jennifer McHugh of Martinton; grandchildren, Patrick McHugh, Riley Lundmark, and Alanna Lundmark; and brother, Gary (Kathy) McHugh of Carrier Mills. Raleigh was preceded in death by his parents and son, Duane McHugh.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Private family inurnment, with military rites, will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. A celebration of life will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, February 24, at Church of God Worship Center in Bourbonnais. Memorials may be made to the family wishes.
