Joanne M. Blake, 91, of Kankakee, passed away Monday, February 13, 2023, at the Citadel of Kankakee. Born June 25, 1931, in Kankakee, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Elsie (Sidick) Wertz. Joanne married Kenneth W. Blake Sr. on June 28, 1952, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bradley. He preceded her in death on June 9, 2013.
Joanne was the head cook for the Kankakee School District, retiring in 1997, after working for 33 years.
Surviving are daughters, Donna M. Henderson of Florida, and Cindy J. Blake of Denver, Colorado; sons, Kenneth W. (Patti) Blake Jr. of Aroma Park, and Steven A. (Barbara) Blake of Kankakee; and eight grandchildren. Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her parents; three brothers; three sisters; and one granddaughter.
Cremation rites have been accorded, with inurnment at Aroma Park Township Cemetery, Aroma Park.
