Alice L. Buckley, 98, of Buckingham, passed away Friday, February 17, 2023, at Ascension Heritage Village in Kankakee. Born July 22, 1924, in Kankakee, she was the daughter of Thomas and Estella (Cart) Crawford. Alice married Viator A. Buckley on July 9, 1949, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, in Kankakee. He preceded her in death on May 17, 1996.

Alice was a homemaker and worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee. She graduated from Herscher High School, St. Mary’s School of Nursing, and was a member of the St. Mary Nursing Alumni Association. Alice enjoyed attending county fairs, where her grandchildren showed animals. She was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Reddick, where she was also a member of the CCW.

Surviving are sons, Timothy Buckley of Herscher, Thomas L. (Beverly) Buckley and Terrance Buckley, all of Buckingham; twin daughters, Marjorie (Matthew) Chorski of Aurora and Mary Alice Buckley of Plainfield; grandchildren, Scott Buckley, Lisa Patchett, Michelle Pinsky, and William Chorski; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Emma Mae King of Reddick. In addition to her husband, Viator Buckley, Alice was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Buckley; her parents; brother, Thomas Crawford; and sister, Myrtle Saffer.

Visitation will be held from 9 until time of the 11 a.m. Funeral Mass on Tuesday, February 21, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Reddick, with interment following at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cabery.
