Happy Super Sunday! I must be bipartisan in my writing but when it comes to this Super Sunday, I hope I can wish for Patrick and his Chiefs! (It’s just my opinion.) We do love a good Philadelphia cheesesteak sandwich, though.
Other celebrations include a Happy Birthday to Mr. Lincoln on Feb. 12 and Happy Valentine’s Day to all on Tuesday the 14th.
There will be a food pantry this Saturday, Feb. 11 at the New Life Community Church, 5101 S. Keeler. The hours are 10 a.m. to noon, while supplies last.
It’s a new month and the St. Turibius (St. Vincent de Paul) pantry is requesting some new items. Donations of rice, Jell-O, pudding, crackers and toothpaste are needed. These items can be placed in the vestibule of the church or taken to the rectory during normal business hours.

Catholic Schools Week was recently celebrated, and the students at Sts. Bruno & Richard Catholic School sure had a great time. There was a pajama day, where students were able to study while in their pajamas. PK3 prepared for and went on a treasure hunt.
The sixth graders were challenged in mathematics to find greatest common factors and least common multipliers with a Valentines Day heart puzzle. Wow to the sixth graders and a “bad” for me. I studied math in college but found myself looking up what is the greatest common factor or least common multiplier. As an easy example of the least common multiplier of 2 and 4, the answer is 4. Just think of multiplying 2 (2, 4, 6, 8) and 4 (4, 8, 12, 16). The smallest number that is common is 4. I always thought I should bring out the math textbooks to stimulate this old brain of mine!
Twenty-third Ward Ald. Silvana Tabares also helped in celebrating at St. Daniel the Prophet School. There she read to students in Miss Pat’s preschool class.
I thank our community for collecting signatures to ban the sale of cannabis in our area. Ald. Tabares presented the ordinance to City Council, which passed unanimously on Jan. 30.
Mark your calendars for March 11. The Archer Avenue St. Patrick’s Day Parade will start at noon, from Oak Park to Narragansett. Slowly but surely, spring is coming!
Happy Birthday to my good friend and favorite Bears fan, Judie Amato. I am sure we will hit up some of the bar/restaurants on South Pulaski to celebrate.
