Donald G. Anderson, 78, of Bourbonnais, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. Born January 2, 1945, in Kankakee, he was the son of Chris and Laura (Schultz) Anderson. Donald married Alice T. Fortin on December 6, 1975, at Wesley United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on July 15, 2021.

Donald, a 1962 graduate of Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School, was a veteran of the U.S. Army, served during the Vietnam Conflict, and received the Bronze Star. Donald was the retired owner of Don’s Auto Repair in Bourbonnais and also had been employed by Kroger. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Donald was a lifetime member of the Bradley-Bourbonnais Sportsman’s Club, Northern Illinois Anglers, Whitetails, and Pheasants Forever. He was a member of the Bradley American Legion, the V.F.W., and Associate member of the Marine Corp League, and also enjoyed fishing and playing Bocce ball and horseshoes.

Surviving are son, Donald Anderson II and fiancée, Kelly Rockrohr, of St. Anne; daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Kevin Coffey of Pontiac; grandchildren, Josh (Amber) Coffey, Annette (Andrew) Heisner, Matt (Becky) Coffey, Hayden Anderson, Brody Anderson, and Bristol Anderson; and great-grandchildren, Lyndon, Layton, Liam, Aspen, and a fifth on the way. In addition to his wife, Alice Anderson, Donald was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Maggie Anderson; brother, Russell Anderson; and sisters, Delores Dufrain, Marlene Anderson, and Bonnie Anderson.

A funeral service was held on February 7, at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais, with Rev. Stephen Hudspath officiating. Interment followed at Kankakee Memorial Gardens in Aroma Township.
