Joan Shekey, 70, of Bourbonnais, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee. Born February 11, 1952, in Kankakee, she was the daughter of Harold and Mary (Piatt) Shekey.
Joan worked for Shapiro Developmental Center, Kankakee, and loved helping others with anything they needed. She was a professional seamstress and loved making cement goose outfits. She also loved shopping. Joan was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Kankakee.
Surviving are special friends, Jerry and Juanita Davis, Michelle Humphrey, Starr Pettit and Dick Engleman, Adrienne and Jessie Hinds, Kim and Darrel Ohrt, Andrea and Cody Lemenager, Mike Davis, Harley Davis, Kaden Davis; and one chihuahua, Cholo. Preceding Joan in death were her parents and her chihuahua, Chica who passed away four days before her.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation will be held from 2:45 until 6 p.m. on Friday, February 3, at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Homes, Bourbonnais. Please sign her guestbook at www.clancygernon.com.
