Charge teen in carjacking spree

A 15-year-old boy was charged with nine felony counts of aggravated vehicular hijacking, one count of attempted aggravated vehicular hijacking and four counts of armed robbery after he was arrested by members of the Chicago Police Department and a multi-agency Vehicular Hijacking Task Force on Nov. 30.
The teen is the fourth juvenile charged in connection with a string of nine carjackings and one unsuccessful carjacking that occurred during a roughly six-hour span Saturday, Aug. 20 on the South and Southwest Sides. Another is 16 years old. The other two were 17 years old when the crimes were committed.
Crime scenes and victims include:
- 12:07 a.m., 8000 block of South Campbell, a 33-year-old woman.
- 1:50 a.m., 3400 block of West 72ndStreet, a 58-year-old man.
- 2:44 a.m., 2900 block of South Union, 21- and 22-year-old women.
- 3:25 a.m., 6500 block of South Kedzie, a 50-year-old man.
- 3:40 a.m., 3700 block of West 82ndStreet, a 40-year-old man.
- 4:30 a.m., 5600 block of South Albany, a 26-year-old man.
- 4:50 a.m., 5700 block of South Richmond, a 45-year-old woman.
- 5:30 a.m., 8600 block of South Halsted, a 43-year-old woman.
- 6:08 a.m., 9500 block of South Peoria, a 31-year-old woman.
- 6:20 a.m., 6600 block of South Artesian, a 66-year-old woman.
Police released no other information about the youth.
