Well hello, August, on Monday. We are enjoying the hot, sultry dog days of summer.
The Peck School play lot is complete. For now, it appears to be open to all the neighborhood children. From what I can tell, they are all having a good time. I hope it remains open to everyone.

This time of year, there are a lot of pop-up garage sales and yard sales. Just this past week our 57th Place looked like a flea market. I wonder if this rule is even enforced but as a reminder, garage sale permits are required. They are very easily obtained at your alderman’s office.
Along with rules that may not be enforced is the dog license. Every Chicago resident owning a dog should have the dog registered with the City Clerk. Oliver just was updated on his 3-year rabies vaccine. Along with that we update him on his city registration. These days it is very easy, just visit ChiCityClerk.com.
For a neutered dog, like Ollie, the price is very reasonable too. The fee goes to save animals through the city’s animal care and control programs and helps find adoptable animals a home. The tag also helps in finding your pet should he or she get lost. A phone number on the decal can be called along with the registration number to locate you, the owner. It’s a win – win for both pets, owners and shelter dogs.

The 2021 film Spider-Man: No Way Home will be shown at dusk (about 8:15 p.m.) Friday, Aug, 12 outdoors at Archer Park, 4901 S. Kilbourn.
The plot: With Spider-Man’s identity now revealed, Peter (Tom Holland) asks Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) for help. When a spell goes wrong, dangerous foes from other worlds start to appear, forcing Peter to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.
The film runs 148 minutes and is part of the citywide Movies in the Parks annual summertime lineup.
There was a pizza challenge over in Garfield Ridge earlier this month. So many good pizza parlors are in the area. It must have been really hard to pick a winner.
We should have one over here in West Elsdon/Archer Heights. To name a few favorites there is Pop-N-Pizza, Pizza Nova, Palermo’s on 63, Angelo’s and Giordano’s. Our favorite bar, Guide’s, makes a darn tasty pizza as well. I am sure there are many other good ones not too far away, like in Gage Park the Pizza Castle and their King Arthur.
