Oak Lawn’s Adult East Egg Hunt

Easter’s not just for kids anymore.

Thanks to the Oak Lawn Park District, it’s also for adults.

The park district hosted an Adult Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 2, at Stony Creek Golf Course, 5850 W. 103rd Street, Oak Lawn.

“This was a fun way for adults to celebrate the holiday and to have the opportunity to relive some of their childhood memories while searching for eggs,” Tracey Gallik, Oak View General Manager at the Oak Lawn Park District, said. “Our hope was for people to gather groups of friends to enjoy the fun together.”

Galik was responsible for organizing the fun holiday event, along with members of the Oak Lawn Park District.

“Based on patron feedback for wanting more adult programming, we thought what better way to offer that than with an Adult Egg Hunt,” Galik said. “The park district previously offered an Adult Egg Hunt years ago so we thought it would be fun to bring back the special event and immediately, the community response was positive.”

Each adult in attendance received a complimentary drink, thanks to Stony Creek Golf Course, along with an empty six pack to fill with six eggs during the nighttime hunt. Each egg had a ticket inside of it to redeem for special prizes in the future such as: drink tickets, vouchers to local business, and more.

“We’ve had a great response from local business throughout the community from donating everything from meals, to drinks, and more,” Galik said. “Everyone who attended on Saturday left here a winner.”

Some of the Oak Lawn and surrounding community businesses that have donated prizes and/or gift certificates that filled the eggs included: Cork & Bean, Clancy’s, Culver’s, Jenny’s Steakhouse, Frankie’s Beef, Jason’s Deli, The Mindful Body, Burger 21, Jack & Pats, Papa Joes, Windy City Thunderbolts, and Raising Canes.

The eggs were hidden all over Stony Creek Golf Course.

“When you see ‘Easter Egg Hunt’, you immediately think of an event for kids,” Galik said. “This one was for adults only. It was a fun way to celebrate the holiday, while having drinks and enjoying an evening with close friends.”

The cost to attend was $30 a person with all funds raised from the event going towards future park district special events.

With its successful turnout of nearly 50 participants, park district officials would like to keep this an annual event.

“It was important to us to offer something for adults that encouraged people to get out of the house, get together, relax, and have fun,” Justin Waters, Oak Lawn Park District’s Marketing Manager, said. “We’ve listened to our residents’ feedback regarding wanting more things for adults to do. This was the perfect idea to combine a fun holiday tradition with an opportunity for friends to get together and enjoy some drinks. We were really looking forward to seeing how into the egg hunt people got. I’m sure it’s been a while since they’ve been part of one.”
